This ancient gown was worn by many early people and was popular in Roman times. It is shaped like a cross, and was appropriated as a distinctive garment by the enthusiastic and faithful followers of Christ, who wore angustus clavus (stripes) of deep red or purple.
The Dalmatica is a closed garment with wide, 3/4 length sleeves and a slit neck. The length is below the knee. (The female version can be found here)
Trim can be added. Pictured is trim 221, which is a Roman Key and appropriate for the period.
Made from medium weight cotton or cotton blend fabric.
